Josh specializes in taking a horse and rider team to their top level of performance through understanding the use and engagement of the horse’s body. Not only will you achieve your goals, but you will also have new training tools to take home and continue your training on your own. The amount of knowledge you will have at your disposal is literally bottomless! When you ride in a 5 Day Clinic, you and your horse will work hard, laugh and share the challenges of the other riders. None of us are there to compare each other, so don’t feel you are not ready to train in a clinic with Josh! The clinics are designed to be safe, motivating and effective.

Designed for highly motivated horse person looking to take their knowledge of horses and training to the next level, regardless of discipline. This simple to apply method decreases the ability for the horse to give the wrong answer! No student is overlooked or gets lost in a “production line”; our small class size allows
everyone SUCCESS!!!

One week of totally immersive hands-on instruction. The instructor will utilize the see one, do one, and teach one training methodology. Instruction and demonstrations will be given during the morning and afternoon sessions. The riders will then train on their horse to perform the exercises. Small class sizes allow coaching and evaluation to build your skills in a fun, supportive setting.

OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the 5-Day Trainers Clinic the riders will be able to:

• Accurately identify a variety of horse behavior and the ability to implement the conditioned response training methods for maximum results.
• Empower the rider with competence and confidence to improve performance long after the workshop is over. 

Rider Level: Intermediate- Advanced

This clinic is for riders actively riding and training their horse. You don’t have to be a professional rider/trainer for this clinic but our goal is to build on a solid foundation and horsemanship skills. A 5 Day Clinic gives you and your horse enough time to make giant strides in horsemanship control. Josh breaks the lessons down into workable, easy to follow steps, teaching you a safe and humane way to gain your horse’s respect and reach your riding goals.

Horse Level: Broke – Advanced

Bring your horse that has a solid foundation in order to focus on performance and to obtain advanced
maneuvers. When you enroll in a 5 Day Clinic, expect to see the maximum amount of change from you and your horse! Each day gives you and your horse the time it takes to participate in numerous training
phases. During the clinic, your horse will learn how to learn – this process takes time.

TOPICS COVERED:

• Module 1: The Essentials - Discover the 5 foundations to training any horse from the ground up. This works for training any horse in any discipline. Simply go back to progressing through these 5 foundations one at a time.
• Module 2: The 5 Releases - Discover the 5 releases to use on your horse. They change depending on the horse and the desired action.
• Module 3: Serpentines - In these lessons we are teaching the horse to bend and stretch its neck out, leading to changes of direction with the head remaining low and relaxed.
• Module 4: Shoulder Work - Continuing with Serpentines, discover how to effectively control the horses shoulders to make them soft and responsive.
• Module 5: Gear Work - Discover how to teach your horse to maintain pace and gait until cued to
  change while connecting with the emotional level of the horse.
• Module 6: Speed Control & Rider Position - Hand position and control speeds through your legs. Rider hand positions using the outside horse to control speed using reverse arc to control speed.

• Horse & Rider: The same horse and rider combination who signs up for the clinic is the only horse and rider team to participate through the duration of the clinic. Please only bring one horse with you to the clinic.

• Personal Photos / Videos: Photos are meant to be for your personal use only, not for commercial purposes or public viewing. You are not authorized to publish or display photos were taken of Josh & Jana Lyons, staff, family, or anyone else at the Lyons Legacy Training Facility without permission from Josh Lyons LLC. and the person or people in the photo. Josh Lyons encourages students to write down lessons, and use videos as necessary but remember this information is for you and not for public viewing.

• Other: No dogs permitted. No stallions unless permitted by Josh Lyons himself. Applicants must be 18 years old or be with a guardian or have special permissions from Josh Lyons himself.

• Payment Policy: Completed and signed application with $350 non-refundable deposit ensures participants' reservation in the clinic. Deposit must be received 2-weeks prior to the clinic. Remaining payment will be due Thursday prior to the clinic.

• Cancellation Policy: Josh Lyons LLC. reserves the right to cancel a clinic due to unforeseen circumstances in this case you are entitled to a full refund or transfer. If Josh is unable to teach a clinic due to extenuating circumstances, he may elect a Lyons Trainer to teach the clinic on his behalf, no refunds or discounts will be given.

• Refund Policy: Non-refundable deposit to reserve your spot in the clinic. If you pay the clinic in full and are unable to attend the clinic we will refund your money minus the non-refundable deposit.

• Transfer Policy: If you pay the non-refundable deposit of $350 and are unable to attend the clinic, you have one calendar year to transfer to another clinic of your choice as long as there is a spot available.

• Spectators: Auditors are authorized to attend for a daily fee. They must bring their own seating to the clinic.

• Valid negative Coggins and current Health Certificate is required.

I grant permission to Josh Lyons LLC. and its subordinates, to use my name, videos, and/or photographs for use in Josh Lyons LLC. publications and productions, such as, but not limited to recruiting brochures, newsletters, and magazines, and to use my name, videos, and or photographs on display boards, and to use my name videos, and/or photographs in electronic versions of the same publications or on the Josh Lyons LLC. website or other electronic forms or media. I hereby waive any right to inspect or approve the finished photographs, videos or printed or electronic matter that may be used in conjunction with them now or in the future, whether that use is known to me or unknown, and I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising from or related to the use of the photograph or videos. I hereby agree to release, defend, and hold harmless Josh Lyons LLC. and subordinates, including any firm publishing and/or distributing the finished product in whole or in part, whether on paper or via electronic media, from and against any claims, damages or liability arising from or related to the use of the photographs, including but not limited to any misuse, distortion, blurring, alteration, optical illusion or use in composite form, either intentionally or otherwise, that may occur or be produced in taking, processing, reduction or production of the finished product, its publication or distribution.

This Waiver and Release from tort and civil liability is made between Equine Activity Participant named in this contract, Josh Lyons LLC, and Host Facility.

1. Participant understands that there are risks inherent in dealing with horses and ponies (equine activity). For example, Participant understands that SOME of the inherent risks include:
a. The propensity of an equine to behave in ways that may result in injury, death or loss to persons on or around the equine;
b. The unpredictability of an equine’s reaction to sounds, sudden movements, unfamiliar
objects, persons, or other animals;
c. That there may be hazards, including, but not limited to, surface or subsurface conditions;
d. The possibility of a collision with another equine, another animal, a person, or an object;
e. The potential of an equine activity to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury,
death, or loss to the person of the Participant or to other persons, including, but not limited
to, failing to maintain control over an equine or failing to act within the ability of the Participant;

2. With full understanding of the inherent risks involved in equine activity, some of which has been described in Paragraph 1 above, Participant agrees to waive, release and hold harmless Josh Lyons LLC and Host Facility from all tort and civil liability arising from or related to participation of equine activity. This agreement to waive, release and hold harmless includes not only Josh Lyons LLC and Host Facility, but all organizers, volunteers, employees, agents and independent contractors whether they be trainers, veterinary personnel, farrier’s equine
care providers and maintenance personnel and the like.

3. Participant further understands the examples of the equine activity, taking place on or with an equine activity, including, but not limited to:
a. Riding, jumping, showing, competitions, trail riding and the like;
b. Teaching, instructing and evaluation, both rider and the equine;
c. Traveling, loading and unloading of equines.
4. Participant agrees the Participant has been given sufficient time to read, understand, and ask questions, if any, concerning the nature and scope of this Voluntary Waiver Agreement.
